Apsley House and Wellington Arch
Wednesday 23 October 2019

Come and join us for a visit to this historic Georgian building that was the London home of the first Duke of Wellington. It has changed very little since the Duke‘s great victory at Waterloo in 1815. It houses a wonderful art collection as well as memorabilia of the Duke’s military and political career.

We will also visit the Wellington Arch, in an imposing position close to Apsley House. This was built as the original entrance to Buckingham Palace and later became a victory arch proclaiming the Duke’s victory over Napoleon. It is crowned with a statue of the Angel of Peace. We can enjoy spectacular views over London from the top of the arch as well as an exhibition about the Duke’s military history

The visit will take place on 23rd October 2019 at 10:30am and will last approximately 1ó hours. Apsley House, 149 Piccadilly W17NT is close to Hyde Park Corner tube station and the 13 bus route. We will meet in time for a 10:30am start outside the main gate of Apsley House where we will be joined by a guide and taken into the House.
